Penn State second-year head coach Bill O'Brien is certainly having no problem securing commitments from some of the better high school quarterbacks in the nation.
After getting a signed Letter of Intent this past February from Christian Hackenberg, who could end up starting in State College as a true freshman this fall, the Nittany Lions received a verbal pledge from Michael O'Connor on Saturday.
The 6-5, 223-pound Class of 2014 product from IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL) has a good arm and is one of the better pocket passers in the nation, and he'll fit perfectly into PSU's pro-style offense. He also is mobile and is good at improvising when plays break down. O'Connor chose the Nittany Lions over offers from major programs such as Tennessee, Michigan State and Vanderbilt.
O'Connor, who works under former Heisman Trophy winner Chris Weinke at IMG, plans to enroll at Penn State in January.
Penn State now has 11 commitments in the 2014 class.
