Defensive end Andre Carter, who had 10 sacks for the New England Patriots before suffering a quadriceps injury, worked out for the Oakland Raiders on Tuesday.

Carter, 33, can play outside linebacker in the Raiders' 3-4 system, as he has done so at other stops in his career.

The Raiders need a boost in pass rush, especially after losing Kamerion Wimbley in the off-season in a salary cap release.

"I've got to stay low key," the free agent told the San Francisco Chronicle. "If it works out, God willing ..."
