Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush acknowledged that the team needs to improve discipline, including committing crucial turnovers and penalties.
The Lions have lost four of five games.
“Just in our play,” Bush told Detroit reporters. “It could be from penalties or it could be from turnovers or it could be from how we finished the games in fourth quarters. It’s not one specific play or moment in a game. It’s the total game. It’s how we play.”
Bush didn't blame the shortcoming on Lions coach Jim Schwartz, whom he praised.
“It’s not a coaches’ thing,” Bush said. “It’s a players’ thing. We can do a better job all across the board. As far as an offense standpoint, turn the ball over and that’s the discipline issue, and that’s something that we have to correct because obviously, as you see, it’ll lose you games. ..
“Coach Schwartz is a disciplinarian. He really focuses on the football field and making sure that we are doing the right thing on the field, especially in practice.”
