DeSean Jackson might not get that long-term contract he has been seeking as the Philadelphia Eagles are expected to place the franchise tag on him.
But the wide receiver could cash in if the Eagles execute a tag-and-trade move in which they would franchise him and then work out a deal with another team that would certainly require Jackson to get a long-term contract.
That is what Adam Schefter of ESPN reported. What are the chances a team steps up and trades for Jackson in this scenario? Probably slim. But it’s interesting that the Eagles have at least let this information out.
Certainly there are character concerns with Jackson, the kind that would make a team wonder if he will perform after he has been paid. Putting him on a one-year deal could force Jackson to perform in a major way in order to be rewarded with what he ultimately has been seeking. It will be surprising if he’s dealt by the Eagles.
