The question of what the New York Jets will do with cornerback Darrelle Revis took another turn, as the New York Daily News reported that the club will make efforts to move the cornerback in a trade once free agency and the trading period begin on Tuesday.
The reports says the Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers, the two teams who battled for the NFC Championship in January, might be competing against each other to land Revis.
As for how serious the Jets are in moving their prized cornerback, who is coming off an ACL injury and will be very pricey when he becomes a free agent in 2014, a source told the newspaper, “He’s gone. This is happening. They’re moving him. They can’t keep him. They’re rebuilding. They’re starting fresh.”
Certainly that is different talk than what GM John Idzik and Coach Rex Ryan were spouting two weeks ago at the NFL Combine when both attempted to make it sound as if Revis was still part of the team and part of their plans.
