Miami offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson tested positive for marijuana at the NFL scouting combine, according to ESPN.
It's a major red flag considering that draft prospects are told in advance they'll be tested at the combine.
Henderson has a history of off-field issues and suspensions, admitting to teams it was because of marijuana.
Henderson is one of the biggest enigmas in the NFL draft.
Supremely talented, Henderson never reached his potential with the Hurricanes and was frequently suspended.
He didn't complete his Pro Day workout.
ESPN reported that Henderson quit.
However, Henderson's agent, David Levine, said that's inaccurate.
Henderson got tired and didn't finish the positional drills, according to Levine.
“He went there intent to do the bench and position drills but his competitive spirit took over and he did a full combine,” Levine told The Sun-Sentinel. “At the end of the workout he got dehydrated, started getting a super bad headache, felt like he was going to throw up and didn’t do the last two O-line drills.”
Levine said that the 6-foot-7, 339-pounder had an 8-6 broad jump, 28-inch vertical, better than what he did at the combine.
“He did everything we needed to see,” an NFC executive told the Sun-Sentinel. “He just looked pretty winded at the end, but they put them through it.”
Who likes Henderson?
Henderson had visits with the Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers and Pittsburgh Steelers.
At the NFL scouting combine, Henderson acknowledged that his suspensions were related to marijuana usage.
“I’m just being honest with every team and letting them know exactly what the situations were, and that I’m putting all the negative things behind me moving on to the next level,” Henderson said. “I want to be a starter and play in the NFL. I’m showing my character. Showing them that I’m responsible, reliable, dependable. I want to keep letting them know all the negative things are behind me.”
