There will be 64 more NFL spots for the taking this season.
NFL practice squads are expected to expand to 10 players this season, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter. Previously, eight players have been allowed to contribute to the practice squad.
This move will generate 64 new positions around the NFL, which will benefit young players looking for a chance to break into the league. In addition, it helps teams add bodies to practice, which is always a plus for a professional coach.
For some coaches, moving up a player from the practice squad could be more beneficial than seeking an in-season free agent veteran. This should help remedy that potential issue.
