The San Francisco 49ers are not planning on bringing Randy Moss back but that doesn’t mean the wide receiver is necessarily done.
Mike Freeman of CBS Sports reports that Moss wants to play for a contending team this next season. By all accounts, Moss was a model teammate in San Francisco in 2012 and that could help him in his bid to continue his career.
Moss came out of retirement in 2011 to play for the Niners. He made 28 receptions for 434 yards and three touchdowns.
"I think Randy wants to play again," one 49ers player told Freeman. "I'm just not sure he wants to go to another team and have to learn another system."
Perhaps Moss can find a team that has a need at wide receiver for a role player. It’s hard to say exactly where that situation might take him and it’s something that would probably have to play out after free agency and the draft when rosters have taken shape.
