What’s done might actually be done this time.
We’re not going to sure exactly how this will play out until the NFL makes a broad announcement – likely later today – but a labor deal between the owners and players has ended more than four months of rocky travelling for both parties.
Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports the deal has been hammered out and as we already know, the NFLPA Executive Committee and 32 player representatives must still vote on the matter before the players – all of them – do so. It’s expected to be a formality.
The new twist, per Glazer, is that team facilities will open as soon as Tuesday. According to his timeline, there will be a staggered start to training camps. Ten clubs will open Thursday, 10 will open Friday and the remaining 12 will begin this coming weekend.
Albert Breer of the NFL Network has a slightly different timeline. He reports 10 teams go camping Wednesday, 10 on Thursday, 10 on Friday and the remaining two on Sunday.
Stay tuned. The NFL should have news to make this officially official soon. It cannot come fast enough.
