The Cincinnati Bengals have signed former Houston Texans outside linebacker Sam Montgomery, according to a league source.

Montgomery is a former Texans third-round draft pick from LSU.

He was released by the Texans for violating team rules for allegedly smoking marijuana before a game against the Kansas City Chiefs this season, but Montgomery has denied doing so

At LSU, Montgomery had 19 career sacks.

He worked out for the Bengals last season.

Montgomery spent time on the Oakland Raiders' practice squad last season after being released by the Texans.
