The New England Patriots auditioned nine players on Tuesday.
That included former Indianapolis Colts and Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Weslye Saunders, a former South Carolina standout. He served eight games last season for violating the NFL substance-abuse policy. Saunders has 10 career receptions for 91 yards and one touchdown.
The Patriots also worked out defensive ned Martez Wilson (Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, Oakland Raiders) and linebackers Josh Kaddu (Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins), Derrel Johnson (Arizona Cardinals, East Carolina), Colton Underwood (San Diego Chargers, Illinois State), Kion Wilson (San Francisco 49ers, Carolina Panthers, Pittsburgh Steelers, San Diego Chargers), fullbacks Evan Rodriguez (Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears) and Maurice Hagens (Atlanta Falcons, University of Miami), tight end Allen Reisner (Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville Jaguars).
