Free agent wide receiver Donte Stallworth gave his first interview since his hot air balloon accident on March 16, telling friend and FoxSports contributor Rebkah Howard about the terrifying incident.
Stallworth had taken his friend Soleil Guerrero on the balloon ride as a birthday present for her. The ride went well until the balloon was not able to clear power lines while trying to land.
That's when both Stallworth and Guerrero suffered severe burns and electrical shocks due to the balloon coming in contact with the power lines. Both were taken to the hospital.
In describing the pain to former teammate Wes Welker and his wife, who visited Stallworth in the hospital, Stallworth said, “Imagine the hardest hit you’ve ever taken and multiply that by 1,000.”
Stallworth described the incident as like being on fire and said seeing Guerrero's injuries was the hardest part of the ordeal for him.
Guerrero was released from the hospital last week and is beginning physical therapy. Stallworth, who played briefly for the New England Patriots last season, said he hopes to begin working out again in about a month in hopes of resuming his NFL career.
