Pittsburgh Steelers running back Chris Rainey has been charged with battery in Gainesville, Fla., according to the Miami Herald.

Rainey, a former University of Florida player, is alleged to have slapped his girlfriend in the face over an argument regarding a cell phone.

He faces a first-degree misdemeanor over the matter.
