Tennessee Titans coach Mike Munchak pretty much squash the notion that came out of a report Monday that tight end Jared Cook had asked to be traded.
Per Munchak's press conference via TitanInsider, Cook isn't going anywhere with the trade deadline looming on Thursday.
“Jared is a big part of our team. Jared has made a lot of good catches for us this year. We know for us to win games, we need him making plays for us. So that's not something for me we've thought about at all. I'm hoping that's not on his mind either,” Munchak said.
Asked if the Titans had given any consideration to trading Cook, Munchak replied, “I'm not gonna comment on that. That's not my decision to make, but I don't see that happening though. I don't see why we'd do that. If the agent is calling and stirring the pot, this is not the time for those types of things.”
Cook has said in the past that he wants to stay with the Titans and has been seeking an extension since training camp, to no avail. The Titans would be wise to re-up him, given that he has 28 catches for 373 yards this season.
