Tyrann Mathieu reunited with many of his former LSU teammates at the school’s pro day on Wednesday, getting in positional drills in front of a throng of NFL scouts and coaches.
The key for Mathieu to make it at the next level will likely be convincing an NFL team has left his troubles in the past after he was kicked out of school in August for off-field transgressions, including marijuana issues.
According to Jim Kleinpeter of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Mathieu has been in counseling as part of his rehabilitation process.
“It's extremely exciting,” Mathieu said. “It's humbling too because of the things I went through the past year. I'm ready for it to be over. I know I made some mistakes. When it comes to football I'm a play-maker and a guy who wants to play hard for the teammates."
It remains to be seen if Mathieu can be a difference maker in the NFL but right now it looks like he’s taking the proper steps.
