So, which Andy Reid answer do you want to believe about the future of the quarterback position for the Philadelphia Eagles?
A day after being pummeled 27-6 by the Arizona Cardinals, Reid seemingly cracked the door open for Michael Vick doubters who are curious about rookie quarterback Nick Foles, who played well in preseason.
“Right now, we’re with Michael, and that’s what we’re doing,” Reid said during his press conference this morning, according to CSN Philly. “We’ll evaluate as we go.”
Evaluate as we go? That is a definite departure from how Reid has handled the question recently and it created quite a buzz in Philadelphia before Reid’s radio show on WIP.
“It was the last question. I was finishing up the press conference," Reid said on his radio show. "Michael's our quarterback. Period. Michael's our quarterback. Listen, does he need to get better? Do we all need to get better? Yes. We're all going to do that."
The Eagles are 2-1 and there is no reason for anyone to push the panic button. Turnovers have been a significant issue to this point and Vick needs to handle the ball better. But it would be drastic at this point for the team to even consider handing the offense off to Foles.
At the same time, every player in the NFL is under evaluation at all times. So, when Reid said they would evaluate the deal moving forward, he likely had that in mind. If Vick goes out and has a stinker against the New York Giants this week, it will only fuel more Foles discussion.
