Former NFL Defensive Player of the Year Bob Sanders is slated to make his season debut on Sunday against the St. Louis Rams.

The Indianapolis Colts safety has been sidelined for the first five games after undergoing offseason knee surgery.

“He’s going to play,’’ Colts coach Jim Caldwell told reporters today. “He’s feeling good. If he can go, he’s starting.’’

It' unclear, though, how much Sanders will play.

“Not really sure, yet,’’ Caldwell said. “It’s prudent to see how it all unfolds and see how he is on game day and kind of make an adjustment accordingly. We have an idea of what we want to do.’’

Nicknamed "The Eraser" for his hard-hitting, impactful style, Sanders has had major durability problems in his career.
