Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Tony McDaniel is in trouble with the law following an argument with his girlfriend.
McDaniel was charged Sunday with misdemeanor battery following a shoving match with his girlfriend, Alaina Smith, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
He was released from jail Sunday morning on $3,500 bail.
Per the report, the argument stemmed from McDaniel unanswered calls and a "late night of partying."
Smith said that she bought breakfast for guests at their home when McDaniel confronted here about not answering her phone. He had stayed out late with friends.
The woman said the NFL player grabbed her purse and pushed her, causing her to hit her head on the pavement, followed by her instructing guests to call 911.
McDaniel allegedly threw her phone to the ground with enough force that it shattered.
According to police, Smith declined medical treatment. There were no visible head injuries, but there were scratches on her fingers.
McDaniel's story is much different.
He said that an angry Smith attacked him with slaps and scratching, and that he blocked her attack with his forearms.
The police said he had scratches on his fingers and hands.
The houseguests backed up Smith's story.
