After being arrested and charged with resisting arrest, simple assault, disorderly conduct and public intoxication Sunday night, Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Jeff Reed is attempting to make amends.

He issued a public apology today.

"I have the utmost respect for this community, this team this organization," Reed told reporters. "I apologize for being a distraction to this team."

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has said that Reed will play this week despite the off-field incident.

Reed said that he was warmly received by fans at a Penguins game Tuesday night.

"Everybody was real complimentary and real nice to me," he said. "They know that I love this community and I love Steelers Nation so if I need to apologize to them I do apologize to them and I would never let this city down."

Meanwhile, tight end Matt Spaeth, who was cited for public urination, has also apologized.

"I apologize for the distraction that it caused to both the organization and my teammates," Spaeth said.
