Former New England Patriots fullback Mosi Tatupu has died at age 54.
Tatupu is the father of Seattle Seahawks linebacker Lofa Tatupu and had a long NFL career with the New England Patriots.
According to the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, no cause of death has been determined yet.
Tatupu has a history of health problems, including high blood pressure.
Tatupu was a versatile special-teams ace who rushed for 2,415 yards and 18 touchdowns.
He played for New England from 1978 to 1990, retiring from the NFL in 1991 after playing briefly for the St. Louis Rams.
Primarily a special-teams player at the NFL level, Tatupu rushed for 2,415 yards and 18 touchdowns. In 1983, he reached a career high of 578 yards.
Tatupu was an inspiration to fans and had his own cheering section called "Mosi's Mooses."
Tatupu was coaching running backs at Curry College in Milton, Mass., at the time of his death.
Funeral services are being prepared.
