In the wake of general manager George Kokinis' ouster, the Cleveland Browns have reportedly hired former Browns, New York Giants and Baltimore Colts general manager Ernie Accorsi as his replacement.
Although ESPN reported that Accorsi is being sought by team owner Randy Lerner as a consultant, the News-Herald is reporting that Accorsi was hired hours after Kokinis' departure.
Accorsi was the Browns' general manager from 1985 to 1992.
He was the Giants' general manager from 1998 before retiring.
And he was the Colts' general manager during the early 1980s.
Accorsi is known to have a strong bond with former Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar, who was recently added by owner Randy Lerner as an "extra set of eyes" with no formal job title.
However this turns out, it looks like Accorsi, a former sportswriter and public relations executive, is going to be involved with a central role.
