Oakland Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell refused to take the blame for his substandard play that got him benched in a 38-0 loss to the New York Jets.
Although the benching isn't permanent, how Russell reacted to the setback is telling.
"Really, there was no reaction," Raiders coach Tom Cable said. "No reaction."
Russell was responsible for three turnovers, including a fumble.
Cable told reporters that Russell didn't get the offense lined up properly.
"The first interception was a matter of a guy coming across my face and getting to the spot," he said. "I tried to get it down but it was too late.
"As far as the second, I thought I gave the guy a chance to make a play on the ball, had a 50-50 chance."
