In the wake of San Diego Chargers safety Eric Weddle being fined $7,500 for a helmet-to-helmet hit on New York Giants tight end Kevin Boss, an appeal has been filed.

Weddle's agent, David, Canter, indicated in an e-mail to National Football Post that an appeal has already been filed with the league office.

Weddle's camp is making the case that he made contact with his shoulder and had no intention of causing any injury.

It's unclear what kind of success rate players have had with appealing fines this season.

Fines are usually announced on Fridays. The reduction or removal of fines don't tend to get announced ever.
