Here are a few more observations from the tape....

  1. Herbert Taylor, the Chiefs' new starting left tackle, looks like he might be very good.  He reminds me of Derrick Deese, the former 49er and Buc.  He's a bit short for the left tackle spot, but very athletic and knows how to play.
  2. For Buffalo to improve on defense, they will need Ko Simpson to improve his tackling.  He takes too many wrong angles and has too many misses.  Big runs in the secondary happen when the safeties miss tackles.
  3. I heard he was unblockable from people who watch tape, but Shawn Rogers is a load.  He was very effective in the middle of the defense and will make the Browns run defense much better.
  4. Linebacker Anthony Waters, the third-round pick of the Chargers a year ago, is the real deal.  I knew he was good coming out, but he had a knee problem.  With a year off he looks like he is going to help the Chargers.
  5. I mentioned this last time, but do people realize that Brandon Marshall is bigger then Jarvis Moss?  Moss looks like he weighs about 230 pounds.  He needs to get stronger -- FAST.
  6. Akeem Jordan of the Eagles seems to be around the ball all the time.  He was the Atlantic Ten player of the year in 2006 and a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award.  He was very impressive last summer and looks like he adds speed and athletic talent to the Eagles linebackers.
  7. Tight End Jon Carlson, the Seahawks' second-round pick out of Notre Dame, is very good.  He will add a huge dimension to their offense.  Mike Holmgren always knows how to make tight ends produce.
