From Mary Kay Cabot of the Plain Dealer:
Browns quarterback Brady Quinn admitted he was upset about being yanked in the third quarter of Sunday's 16-6 loss to the Texans after his second interception of the game.
"Uh, yeah," he said. "Come on, I'm in this game to play. After that last one, I didn't really have any inclination I was on such a short leash. The fourth quarter is where games are won or lost and I just wish I would've been able to be in there to have a chance."
Quinn, playing with a fractured right index finger, was pulled in favor of Derek Anderson with 3:14 left in the third after throwing picks on back-to-back to drives. Both were on passes intended for Braylon Edwards - and Quinn discovered what Anderson has known all season: It's tough to win when your star receiver is in a slump.
But Quinn didn't blame Edwards - or his finger for the poor outing.
"[The fracture] wasn't a factor," he said. "I'm not one to make excuses. I practiced with it all week and felt confident in what I could do."
He said he didn't think he was pulled because of the injury.
"I spoke with him [Coach Romeo Crennel] and I think he was upset with a couple of decisions I made," Quinn said. "I hope the [injury] wasn't a factor."
Crennel said Quinn's benching was "a combination of his decisions and the injury to his finger. He has a fracture that impacts what he can do with the ball. He practiced all week and I thought it was good enough."
Quinn was unaware during his postgame remarks that Crennel declared him the starter for next week's game against the Colts.
"Brady has not lost his job," Crennel said. "He's still the quarterback and he's going to play."
