Redskins interview Jay Gruden

The Washington Redskins interviewed Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden.

Gruden is up for several jobs. He's regarded as a strong candidate for the Redskins' job.

Gruden has interviewed with the Tennessee Titans and also has an interview this week with the Minnesota Vikings.

Gruden has a background with Redskins general manager Bruce Allen from their time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Jay Gruden was an assistant coach under Jon Gruden, his brother, where Allen was the general manager.

Two Redskins assistant coaches worked with Jay Gruden in Tampa: Redskins secondary coach Raheem Morris and tight ends coach Sean McVay.

Gruden coached the offense for the UFL's Florida Tuskers where Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett was the head coach.

Gruden became a head coach when Haslett left the Tuskers.
