We have not turned into the Washington Redskins Digest, but with a (voluntary) minicamp this weekend, they’re churning out more news than most.

They’re taking a look at another bust-out receiver like the Seattle Seahawks did last week when they kicked the tires on Mike Williams and Reggie Williams and then signed both wide receivers. The Redskins brought in Williams’ ex-teammate with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Jerry Porter. He participated in minicamp on a tryout basis, according to the Washington Post.

Porter signed a $30 million contract with the Jaguars in 2008 that included $10 million guaranteed. That gig ended after one season and Porter was out of the league last season, although he had tryouts with at least the Ravens and Titans.

Porter has a tie to the Redskins in that he was drafted out of West Virginia by the Oakland Raiders in 2000 when new general manager Bruce Allen was working for the silver and black. Porter produced for the Raiders but he was always best in a complementary role.

The Redskins also took a look at former Titan Roydell Williams and Marques Hagans, who has been with the team previously.
