(AP) -- Brett Favre recently had arthroscopic surgery on his ailing right shoulder, ESPN reported Sunday night, another indication the three-time NFL MVP is considering coming out of retirement.

ESPN, citing two anonymous sources, reported that Favre had surgery last month to repair the torn biceps tendon that bothered him late last season with the New York Jets. Favre retired in February, but the Jets released him at his request in April - making him a free agent.

A message was left with Favre's agent Bus Cook seeking comment.

According to the report, Favre has thrown on a limited basis since the surgery, but isn't close to 100 percent. A source told ESPN the quarterback wouldn't return "unless he makes significant progress."

Minnesota said it would be interested in Favre if he comes out of retirement.

Mangini was sent packing because of the 'BF experiment' in NY. Look for Chilly to be served the same fate in Minn. if BF becomes a Vike in 2009.

BF may own many NFL records but obviously the one he cherishes the most is as the longest running 'prima-diva' in NFL history. Truly embarrassing.

The experiment in NY was working as they were 8-3 until the torn bicep. Explain to me how does he become a "prima diva" just because he wants to play? Was Joe Montana a "prima diva" when he went to KC because he still wanted to play....no!!!
How about Emmmit Smith, Reggie White, Edgerin James.....or the players who leave their teams for big checks or chance for super bowl ring. Brett would still be a Packer if they didn't send the train from the station. Who gives anyone the right to tell Brett to retire or not play for the Vikings.....it's not your life...don't watch him play (I'll bet you will be) It's like telling an individual you can't live here....

Gwinn1952,
The whole point of the experiment not working, is that his body can't hold up for a whole season anymore...if he just wanted to play, he would've stayed in NY to build on the 8-3. His major reason to go to Minny is to stick it to TT, who would've let him stay if he didn't retire. The "prima-diva" comes from him believing that he is more important than the rest of the team. I for one would not have a problem if he came back to just truly play the game, but I do have a problem if its for revenge, which I believe it is.

The Favre apologists will excuse BF no matter what his reasons for returning. It's unfortunate that some fans still are held captive by the BF PR machine.

BF used the Jets last year & probably will use the Vikes this year for his own personnal vendetta against another person. Yet, the Favre apologists continue to paint the 'good ol'e boy' image. I don't know what's more embarrassing. -BF or his gullible jock-smelling apologists.

WoodyG That wasn't a bad post to lead it off.

It would be a lot easier to "just let Farce live his life" if he didn't call so many press conferences while doing it.

It then becomes everybody's life.
