Rex Ryan confident Jets will reach playoffs

Say what you want about Rex Ryan. But he'll never stop believing in his team or his players.

In years past, Ryan would give overly optimistic soundbytes heading into the regular season, though that's more a part of his boisterous personality than anything else. Toning it down some in the past couple of years, Ryan still exhibits the same confidence. He's just showing it in a different way.

“I believe we’re better than that. I believe we’re a lot better than that,” Ryan told the New York Daily News. “Eight and eight would be a hell of a disappointment for us. I’m just telling you that I believe this team is on the cusp of doing some special things. . . . I’m confident we will be a playoff team.”

The Jets surprised a lot of people in 2013 as eight wins didn't seem like a possibility at the season's start. That alone should give the organization, along with Ryan, plenty of confidence heading into this year.
