Saints sign Jim Leonhard

The New Orleans Saints added a veteran presence for the secondary today when safety Jim Leonhard was signed to a one-year contract.

Leonhard announced the signing via his Twitter account. He moves to New Orleans after spending last season with the Denver Broncos, primarily as a backup. He made two starts in Denver and had two interceptions and 18 tackles.

Previously, Leonhard was a starter for the Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets. He will likely begin as a backup for the Saints and have an opportunity to play a core role on special teams.
