The Tennessee Titans were on the verge of completing a trade for St. Louis Rams wide receiver Torry Holt yesterday, sources close to the situation informed the National Football Post.
The NFP has also learned that the deal between the Titans and Rams fell through because Holt refused to restructure his current contract. Holt’s refusal not only caused the potential trade to fall apart, but also led to his release from the St. Louis Rams earlier today.
Now a free agent at the age of 32, Holt caught 64 passes for 796 yards and 3 touchdowns in 14 starts for the Rams last season.
More on this story as it develops.
Holt would be a solid pickup for the Titans, for the right price.
As a Titans Fan i sure hope they get him
Holt to the Eagles, Vikings, Niners, or possibly the Cowboys...hmmmmmmm
Torry Holt would be the best receiver The Titans have ever had. PLEASE FISHER PLEASE MIKE REINFELDT MAKE THE DEAL.
Why would Holt not restructure and go to Tenessee where he has a chance to be on a contender. Now he's out in the cold with no contract for this year. I don't understand that. Im sure he'll get signed somewhere, but definitely not for 8 mill.
Wouldn't it some nice irony that Holt could have (and may yet) join the club he helped take down in the Super Bowl a decade earlier?
No kidding, Zig. Now we just need to sign Kurt Warner
Hey Jonathon, do these names ring a bell?!?! They were pretty good.
- Derrick Mason
- Haywood Jeffires
- Ernest Givins
- Curtis Duncan
- Webster Slaughter (although his best years were in Clev)
- Drew Hill
- Charley Hennigan
I'm not saying I wouldn't like to get Torry Holt (even at this point in his career), but the Titans/Oilers have had some good receivers in the past.
could you imagine if we sign holt, then we dont really need to draft a receiver unless one of the really good ones fall, we could stock so many positions, seeing how we didnt really loose anyone that keeps us from contending

I hope Holt realises he is not getting any younger and with a poor season in '08 he better take what he can get, hopefully with the Titans.
