South Carolina lands Under Armour All-American tight end
Steve Spurrier and his staff landed their fifth commitment for the Class of 2014 when tight end Kevin "K.C." Crosby gave a verbal pledge to the program on Saturday.
The 6-1, 240-pound Under Armour All-American from Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School (Bamberg, S.C.) committed to the Gamecocks over Alabama and Clemson. South Carolina had been the first to offer, as the Gamecocks showed interest after his ninth-grade season. He becomes the first Bamberg-Ehrhardt player to commit to the Gamecocks since offensive lineman A.J. Cann.
Crosby, who is arguably a Top 10 tight end nationally, could make an immediate impact when he arrives in Columbia. While some recruiting analysts believe he could project well at linebacker after he recorded 67 tackles, eight sacks and three interceptions in 2012, the Gamecocks want him on offense, where Crosby wants to play. He had 36 catches for 786 yard and 14 touchdowns as a junior.
South Carolina uses a lot of two tight end sets, so Crosby and fellow 2014 recruit Kalan Ritchie could have a shot to see early playing time for the Gamecocks.
