From Shalise Manza Young of The Providence Journal:

Veteran free agent CB Shawn Springs is expected to sign with the New England Patriots, after visiting with both the Pats and Eagles this week.

(It was reported that Springs was to visit Foxboro on Sunday, but he was delayed by the snow storm that hit the East Coast.)

The former first-round pick was released by the Washington Redskins last week in a salary-cap move. The 6-foot, 207-pound former first-round pick has played 11 seasons.

Sonny, you are the fan that makes the rest of knowledgeable fans in Boston look stupid.

A good pass rush makes a poor secondary look dynamite....see 2007 Giants in the Super Bowl. And although Hobbs slipped on that winning drive, he kept Burress to 2 catches 27 yards (13 on the final play).

Hobbs is also a demon on special teams. He sacrifices his body and is the best player the Patriots have back there. Is a shut down corner? Find a team that has one? They don't exist in the today's NFL. But he is fast, smart and experienced.

As for Springs. I hope he can stay healthy and contribute. I would rather see one of last years draft picks step up, but experience is always needed.

Hobbs is an adequate NFL corner, he's just not a #1. This is a typical Belichick signing, low risk veteran player, who can provide depth. If he doesn't pan out they cut him, much like Fernando Bryant last year.

Hobbs is one of the best kick returners in the league. They shouldn't cut him for that reason alone.

Hey P, I don't know what games you watched last year, but every game I watched had Hobbs getting burnt...

He puts the T in toast.....

If you think Hobbs is good, you sir haven't watched much good football....

Go back and watch all the big plays by the other teams receivers and all you see is the back of #27...

Matt,
I agree, he is a good kickoff returner.
Maybe we don't cut the guy, but if he's a starter at CB, don't look for the P-men to go very far in playoffs...

You obviously didn't read what I wrote. If you can't get to the QB, the secondary looks aweful. If you can...the secondary looks fantastic.

Our secondary is scapegoat for all the blame, when in reality (if you ever even played flag football) its very difficult to cover a WR when the QB has plenty of time to throw. Its even harder when you can't use your hands because the Zebras throw flags so quickly.

If you get to the QB faster, it doesn't give the WR time to move and create plays...even when the play breaks down.

You dont know what you are talking about.
