Steelers dump McFadden, Battle

The Pittsburgh Steelers released veteran cornerback Bryant McFadden and receiver Arnaz Battle on Wednesday as part of what could be an extensive housecleaning, says the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

McFadden began the year as a starting cornerback for the Steelers, but was injured and lost his starting job to William Gay. He was drafted by the Steelers in 2005 and played six of his seven NFL seasons there, with a one-year hiatus to the Arizona Cardinals.

Battle, a backup receiver, played mostly on special teams in his two seasons in Pittsburgh. The Steelers also let go of tight end Miguel Chavis and linebacker Erik Clanton, both of whom had signed futures contracts.
