Texans to release Ed Reed today
The Houston Texans are releasing veteran free safety Ed Reed after demoting him in favor of Shiloh Keo the past two games, a league source confirmed.
Reed had said two days ago that the Texans had been "outplayed and outcoached"
The former Ravens star was signed to a three-year, $15 million during the offseason that included a $2 million signing bonus and $5 million in guaranteed money.
He's subject to waivers.
The 2004 NFL Defensive Player of the Year had offseason hip surgery.
He has just 16 tackles, no interceptions, no pass deflections or forced fumbles this season and has frequently allowed big plays.
