It’s time for a fantasy breakdown quick hits style to help you grind through the rest of your work day and get geared up for all of this weekend’s action.

INJURY REPORT

1.     Kellen Winslow    Cleveland Browns:  Did Not Practice on Wednesday (illness)

2.     Clinton Portis    Washington Redskins:  Did Not Practice on Wednesday (hip)

3.     Felix Jones    Dallas Cowboys:  Did Not Practice on Wednesday (hamstring)

4.     Tony Romo    Dallas Cowboys:  Did Not Practice on Wednesday (finger)

5.     Calvin Johnson    Detroit Lions:  Did Not Practice on Wednesday (concussion)

6.     Bernard Berrian    Minnesota Vikings:  Limited Practice on Wednesday (knee)

7.     Reggie Bush    New Orleans Saints:  Did Not Practice on Wednesday (knee)

8.     Willie Parker    Pittsburgh Steelers:  Did Not Practice on Wednesday (knee)

9.     T.J. Houshmandzadeh    Cincinnati Bengals: Did Not Practice on Wednesday (ankle)

10.   Chris Chambers    San Diego Chargers:  Did Not Practice on Wednesday (ankle)

KEY MATCHUPS TO WATCH THIS WEEKEND

1.    Cleveland Browns at Washington Redskins: Was last week a fluke for both teams?  That is the question that will be answered this Sunday when then once again fantasy relevant Derek Anderson leads the Browns into FedEx Field to take on the Redskins.  Washington is currently ranked 8th in total defense, surrendering an average of only 284 yards per game, so the Cleveland offense will certainly have their work cut out for them.  On the other side of the ball, the big question is whether the Rams exposed the Skins as pretenders, or was it just an off day for Jim Zorn’s team?  Look for the Redskins to run 2008’s top fantasy RB Clinton Portis right at the Browns front seven.  Cleveland currently ranks 25th in the NFL in rush defense, allowing 137 YPG on the ground.  If Portis can move the chains, the Redskins should be able to control the clock and limit the Browns’ offense from exploding like they did against New York.

2.    Dallas Offense vs. St. Louis Defense:  One week ago, we all would have had a big laugh about this one and calmly moved on with our day.  Not so much anymore.  The reality TV show known as the Dallas Cowboys are currently dealing with:  Tony Romo’s precious pinkie finger, yet another Pacman suspension, an unhappy Terrell Owens, a loss to the Cardinals, and a new receiver in the lineup.  With all the drama, they better not get caught snoozing when they head to St. Louis to take on an upbeat Rams team coming off their first win of the season.  A Cowboys win won’t prove anything, but a Dallas loss, coupled with a poor offensive showing, (we know the defense won’t show up) will add another hole to a ship that is already taking on water.  Anyone out there think Owens will make it through this season without blowing up?

LOOK OUT FOR…

Rookie Running Backs:  There are some great matchups this weekend for a couple of the National Football Post’s favorite fantasy players.  Steve Slaton and the Texans (coming off their first win of the year) lay out the red carpet and welcome the guaranteed win that is the Detroit Lions.  Detroit’s run defense is giving up 171 yards per game (31st in NFL), which should have Slaton licking his chops to get an opportunity to run through them like a hot knife through warm butter.  A few hundred miles north, Tennessee speedster Chris Johnson heads to Kansas City for a crack at (you guessed it) the worst rush defense in the NFL.  Remember what DeAngelo Williams did to them a couple of weeks ago?  You get the idea.

BE SUSPICIOUS OF…

San Diego at Buffalo:  Something just doesn’t smell right about this one.  San Diego has been hot one week and cold the next all year long.  Add in the fact that they tend to struggle when the play on the east coast, and you have a potential fantasy disaster on your hands.  Buffalo is coming off the bye, Trent Edwards & Roscoe Parrish are ready to go, and the Bills are looking to get back on track after their first loss of the season two weeks ago (Arizona).  I’m not recommending you bench any and all Charger players, but you may want to weigh you options and check the matchups to see if you have something a little less risky.

Jackson, the only reason I left him off was because I figured everyone was already aware of that. Good call though.

Chris: I'd say Steven Jackson can probably be had for the best price right now

Joe,

Who wins a Torry Holt for Roy Williams trade?

I know I'm not Joe and you have no idea if I know anything about football, but thought I would give my 2 cents worth:

Matt,
T.Holt has done nothing all year and nothing has really changed with his team. While Roy Williams has also done nothing all year, he has gone from one of the worst offenses to one of the best offenses....

ScottR, Without looking at their schedules, I would take Barber over Peterson and Colston over Moss. I would say don't sell Colston cheap just as he is about to start playing again, remember Brees is putting up MVP numbers and that's w/o any help from Colston.

Joe,

Any thoughts on the emergence of Ryan Torain in Denver? My thoughts are that Torain may explode in Shanny's offense as Pittman is running out of tread and Young is just not that good.

Memphis: go with Grant against a weak indy run defense

Scott R: thats a decent trade. I like Colston more than Moss, but AP is a great back.

Matt: tough one. Probably the guy who gets Williams, although I dont think there is that much of a difference with Romo hurt.

charlie: torain is an excellent pick up. If he is 100 percent, expect him to be a nice addition to your team

Edgar, I'd go with Stewart either way.

JDogg: I dont like the trade from either side. I guess I would have to say the guy who ends up with Fitzgerald is the winner, because he is the good player in that deal. Chambers can play, but the injury is slowing him down.

Dave: Go Phils, baby! We're are just waitin it out right now. Dave, I'd probably sit Graham. I like the matchups the other three have.

hey joe--
tough call here, i'm happy with all three and can't decide this week:

matt schaub, aaron rodgers, or philip rivers...?

schaub has the best matchup, but he's the least "stud" of my qb's...

i also have tomlinson, which has some impact on playing both him and rivers...

who would you play?

(btw- i don't normally carry 3 quality qb's, but aaron came by trade, and i currently have Rivers on the trade block for RB depth)

Hey joe, great website....

I've been offered:
drew brees and the titans defense
for
brandon marshall and matt schaub

I just picked up schaub last week and if i get rid of brandon, i can still start Desean Jax, Braylon Eds, or Marvin (only 2 per week)....what do you think??

i'm starting McNabb right now at QB...

Joe,
Slaton or Grant; I think they'll end up similar in stats. However, I've got Johnson & Schaub already starting. I normally try not to put all my eggs in 1 basket.

Joe,
Trade in another league. S. Holmes/J.Stewart/T.Scheffler all for Andre Johnson. (whom I just acquired along with McNabb for Megatron)

In trying to deal EDGE but that seems unlikely.

Johnson, Colston, & D.Jackson are my receiving core.
I have Portis, Lynch, Slaton, Sproles & Torain as my RB's.

Colston, DJacks, & Holmes could work but Johnson is going to put up #'s regardless of QB Holmes will dependent upon Big Ben getting back to his rookie ways.
Low Down?
