Top Florida running back commits to Alabama

Nick Saban and Alabama received a big commitment Sunday from Dee Hart, a Scout.com Top 100 running back from Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Fla. Hart is the first running back to commit to the Crimson Tide's 2011 class.

Dee HartDee Hart is the first running back to commit to Alabama's 2011 class.

Hart rushed for 2,224 yards and set a Florida high school record with 50 touchdowns in 2010, and he helped Dr. Phillips to the Class 6A state championship game. The 5-8, 190-pounder attended the Alabama-Michigan State Capital One Bowl in Orlando on Saturday at his own expense and later traveled to San Antonio, Texas to begin practice for the U.S. Army All-American game.

Hart committed to Michigan in October but just recently began wavering on the Wolverines. Perhaps the job status of Rich Rodriguez played a role. His teammate, Ha’Sean Clinton-Dix, committed to the Tide, as well. And while Clinton-Dix and Hart are solid with their commitment to Alabama, they do plan to visit Will Muschamp and Florida this month.

Alabama is also recruiting Isaiah Crowell, a five-star running back from Carver High School in Columbus, Ga. Crowell plans to visit Tuscaloosa on Jan. 14, but Georgia is considered the team to beat for his services.
