Virginia's Vic Hall to sign with Bears
With only five picks, the fewest general manager Jerry Angelo has had in nine drafts with the Chicago Bears, the team has gone out and done some shopping in the undrafted free agent market.
The Bears announced on Sunday that they had signed 12 players to contracts, and now Virginia’s Vic Hall will make it 13. Hall, who was reported by some outlets to be headed to the Baltimore Ravens, took his time selecting a team and wound up with the Bears.
A jack-of-all-trades for the Cavaliers, he had offers from some teams to play offense and others to play defense. He will work as a slot receiver and on special teams for the Bears. Hall played quarterback, receiver, cornerback and safety in school. The 5-10, 185-pounder saw an opportunity in Mike Martz’s offense and with special teams coordinator Dave Toub.
The Bears are hoping to develop a free agent or two this year because of their slim draft class. However, the club has not fared well in this avenue before. The only UDFA’s to make an impact during Angelo’s regime were safeties Brandon McGowan and Cameron Worrell. McGowan is in New England and Worrell, at one time a standout on special teams, is out of the league.
