Von Miller becomes NFL's highest paid defensive player
After months of occasionally contentious negotiations, star pass rusher Von Miller and the Denver Broncos found common ground Friday afternoon as they struck a blockbuster deal.
The former Texas A&M standout and Super Bowl Most Valuable Player agreed to a six-year, $114.5 million contract.
The deal includes $70 million in total guaranteed. That includes a $23 million signing bonus, according to NFL sources.
Miller is now the highest paid defensive player in league history.
His contract averages $19.08 million annually.
Miller recorded 2 1/2 sacks during the Broncos' Super Bowl 50 championship victory over the Carolina Panthers.
Miller has 60 career sacks in five NFL seasons since being drafted in the first round by the Broncos.
Miller posted a photo on himself in a Broncos uniform on his official Twitter account after the deal was struck.
It included a caption that read: 'For Life'
