American Music Awards recap
Being 16 years old has certainly been sweet for Justin Bieber.
The teen idol cleaned up at the American Music Awards on Sunday night, claiming four trophies at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
The YouTube sensation won for pop/rock male, breakthrough artist, album of the year for My World 2.0 and artist of the year.
He also treated fans suffering from Bieber Fever to an inspired performance of his song "Pray." You can see the video below.
The youngest artist to win the top AMA honor, Bieber invited Usher on stage and called him “not only my mentor but my best friend and my big brother.”
Usher himself picked up two awards, one for male soul/R&B artist and one for the album Raymond v. Raymond.
Eminem also claimed two awards, one for male rap/hip-hop artist and another for the album Recovery.
Other winners included:
Lady Gaga: pop/rock female
The Black Eyed Peas: pop/rock group
Brad Paisley: male country artist
Taylor Swift: female country artist
Lady Antebellum: country group
Carrie Underwood: country album of the year for Play On.
While there were some great performances on the night, including Daily Jolt favorite Katy Perry, a really good Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block comeback effort and my girl Ke$ha being her typical weird yet sexy self, Rihanna set the tone with her opening performance. See for yourself below.
