Arkansas QB Mallett may practice Tuesday

Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino said during his weekly press conference Monday that star quarterback Ryan Mallett may be able to practice Tuesday.

Ryan MallettICONArkansas QB Ryan Mallett may be able to practice Tuesday after getting knocked out against Auburn.

Mallett suffered a concussion in the second quarter of the Razorbacks’ loss at SEC rival Auburn Saturday and was replaced by Tyler Wilson, who threw for 332 yards and four touchdowns in two-plus quarters of work.

The 6-6, 238-pound Mallett is not experiencing lingering headaches, according to Petrino.

“[Sunday] he was asymptomatic,” Petrino said during his weekly press conference. “He'll go through series of tests [Monday afternoon]. Best-case scenario, he comes out and practices [Tuesday], but I don't know that yet.

Petrino did say that if Mallett is unable to practice Tuesday, the coaching staff will start the process of prepping Wilson to start this weekend against Ole Miss.
