Auburn suspends Dyer
Auburn has suspended All-SEC running back Mike Dyer for its Chick-fil-A Bowl game against Virginia for a violation of an undisclosed team rule.
ICONMike Dyer will miss Auburn's bowl game due to suspension.
Dyer, who became the first Tigers player to rush for more than a 1,000 yards in each of his first two seasons, will finish his sophomore year with 1,242 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns.
The offensive MVP of last season's BCS title game, Dyer was one of the only consistent performers on an Auburn offense that saw three quarterbacks log significant time and played a good chunk of the year with its top two receivers injured.
Backup Onterio McCalebb, who has 532 yards and four touchdowns, as well as freshman Tre Mason, who has 97 yards and no scores, will have to carry the load against the Cavaliers. True freshman quarterback Kiehl Frazier will also likely be leaned on.
Dyer's 242 rushing attempts made up nearly half of Auburn's 492 carries this fall.
