Cal lands Penn State's Fortt

A day after star running back Silas Redd announced that he is leaving for USC, Penn State lost another notable player from its 2012 roster.

According to Dave Ruden of the Stamford Advocate, linebacker Khairi Fortt announced Wednesday morning that he's joining Redd in the Pac-12, as he is transferring to Cal to play for head coach Jeff Tedford. Fortt had visited the Golden Bears this past weekend.

There is a possibility that the junior may not be able to greatly help the Bears in 2012, however, as Fortt continues to recover from knee surgery. Redshirting remains a possibility.

Last season Fortt had 33 tackles (including six for loss) and 2.5 sacks.

Already the Nittany Lions have lost tight end Kevin Haplea to Florida State, safety Tim Buckley to N.C. State, Redd to USC and Jamil Pollard to Rutgers following the application of NCAA sanctions.
