Chris Rene debuts 'Young Homie' music video

The Daily Jolt is a section of the National Football Post that serves as a one-stop shop for all things sports, pop culture and everyday life.

The section’s editor, Dave Miller, also writes the College Football Report column for the NFP. When he isn't putting coaches on the hot seat, he can often be found reminiscing about the glory days of the NWA. You can follow him on Twitter at Miller_Dave.

Chris Rene, who nabbed third place in the first season of the U.S. version of The X Factor, released his video for his debut single, “Young Homie.” The song was originally performed by the artist when he auditioned on the show in front of the judges, which included Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid.

Rene's story is well documented.

Before his appearance on The X Factor he completed rehab for alcohol and drug abuse. Despite his star-studded performances week after week on the show, he was unable to prevail over Josh Kracjik and eventual winner Melanie Amaro, who took home the $5 million recording contract.

Enjoy the video, which portrays how anyone can turn around his or her life no matter the circumstances.
