Class of 2013 recruit Bateman narrows list to five schools
Alabama and Auburn, each of which are trying to add a top quarterback in the Class of 2013, are among five finalists for the commitment of Cooper Bateman, a four-star quarterback who is one of the best pro-style signal-callers in the country.
The Cottonwood High School (Salt Lake City, UT) star, who visited the Crimson Tide and Tigers in April, is also considering LSU, Florida and Washington. Stanford was a candidate before the Cardinal landed four-star recruit Ryan Burns.
Bateman is nearing a final decision and still has a scheduled trip to Tuscaloosa in early June, which will precede a trip to California for the Elite-11 quarterback camp. He plans on making his decision shortly after completing both trips.
The 6-3, 205-pound Bateman passed for 2,484 yards and 26 touchdowns in 2011. He attends the same school that has produced Philadelphia Eagles fullback Stanley Havili and California starting running back Isi Sofele.
