Class of 2014 profile: Randall Cunningham II

Throughout the summer at the National Football Post, we will profile a number of the nation's top prospects in the Class of 2014 along with those that are intriguing for a variety of reasons — risers, fallers, sleepers, etc.

Today, let's take a look at Randall Cunningham II, the son of the former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback who played 16 seasons for four organizations and was a four-time Pro Bowl selection.

Dual-threat QB Randall Cunningham II
Class of 2014
6-5, 180 pounds
Bishop Gorman High School (Las Vegas, NV)
Notable offers: LSU, Mississippi State, Baylor, Syracuse and UNLV

Cunningham has not yet started a high school football game at Las Vegas power Bishop Gorman, but he will start receiving numerous scholarship offers to go with the ones he already has from LSU, Baylor and others. Nicknamed "RC2" by Baylor coaches, Cunningham has also drawn interest from UCLA and Oregon.

The dual-threat QB (like his father) will start this fall in place of Anu Solomon, who is headed to Arizona after winning the state title four times and losing only four times in his career. As a backup, Cunningham completed 21 of 32 passes for 298 yards with two touchdowns and four interceptions while rushing 42 times for 483 yards and seven scores in 2012.

And to say RC2 is athletic is an understatement.

He has been clocked at 4.6 seconds in the 40-yard dash and recorded a mark of 7 feet, 2 inches in the high jump. He will likely participate in track and football at the next level and has dreams of competing in the Olympics.

While he is quite talented and athletic, RC2 needs to improve in nearly every aspect of his game as a quarterback, as many college coaches believe he could be better as a receiver. He has a long throwing motion, but he does possess a strong arm. And the mental rigors of competing against some of the best teams in the nation, including Booker T. Washington of Miami, will take its toll. But he'll have a strong group of playmakers surrounding him, which will help him transition to being a starter.

Will RC2 follow in RG3's footsteps and go to Baylor?

By the end of his senior season, he will certainly have plenty of options.
