Del Rio staying mum on Tebow-to-Jaguars possibility

There are plenty of reasons to follow the happenings in Mobile, Alabama this week as NFL draft hopefuls prepare for the Senior Bowl. However, when it comes to draft prospects, no one creates quite the buzz as Florida quarterback Tim Tebow.

And because of his Jacksonville roots, no one team has been more linked to the draft prospects of the Gators icon as the Jaguars. Oh, and there’s also that little detail about his ability to potentially sell tickets for a franchise that struggles to do so with its current product most Sundays in the fall.

With Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio on hand in Mobile for the week’s festivities, of course he was going to be asked for his thoughts on whether or not the franchise would have any interest in drafting Tebow.

“I will have (a full scouting report) on Tim at some point, but I won’t give it to you any time soon,” said Del Rio while watching a practice. “It’s way too early in the process to get into those sorts of discussions.”

“All I’ve done is TV scouted him at this point. It’s great exposure for us to be able to see him out of that system they were in and in this system.”

So what about the notion that Superman won’t be quite super in making the transition to the next level, as many scouts wonder if he has the necessary arm strength and the right mechanics?

“A lot of talk will go to what he can’t do, but as we’re all looking at it, we’re looking at what guys can do too.”

The culmination of this week’s activities for Tebow and his fellow seniors will take place with the Senior Bowl game itself on Saturday at 3 pm CT.
