Florida CB Jenkins charged with possession of marijuana
Florida cornerback Janoris Jenkins, who surprisingly elected to return to school for his senior season and bypass April's NFL Draft, was cited for possession of marijuana by the Gainesville Police Department at a local night club over the weekend.
At 12:50 a.m. on Saturday, officers went into the bathroom of Status in downtown Gainesville and saw Jenkins holding a “small, clear bag with marijuana in it,” police spokesperson Tscharna Senn said.
Jenkins was charged with possession of cannabis under 20 grams, a misdemeanor, and was issued a notice to appear in court. He was not taken into police custody and is scheduled to go before a judge on Feb. 17.
The return of Jenkins next season will be a huge boost for new head coach Will Muschamp, who has a tough job rebuilding a secondary that will be reliant on a lot of youngsters in the fall.
