Florida DT Brown charged with battery

Florida redshirt freshman DT Gary Brown was charged with two counts of misdemeanor battery on Sunday morning after being accused of striking two women at a party near Gainesville.

According to a report by the Associated Press, bond had not yet been set and the 19-year-old Gator was expected to be in court on Monday. It is unknown whether or not Brown has an attorney.

One of the women involved told police that the lineman slapped her in the face, while the other said that Brown caused scratches on her arms.

Brown has been suspended by Florida head coach Urban Meyer from all team activities.

Arrests have become commonplace in Gator Nation, as this is reportedly at least the 27th arrest of a UF player since Meyer was hired in 2005, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

The most recent arrest was Carlos Dunlap’s for DUI during SEC championship week.
