Florida State cornerback Reid arrested

Florida State cornerback Greg Reid was arrested early Monday morning by Tallahassee police on two misdemeanor charges.

The 21-year-old junior defender, who is also one of the more explosive special teams players in the nation, was booked on perjury not in an official proceeding and resisting an officer without violence. Bond for Reid was set at $500.

Reid did not play this past Saturday in the team's 35-30 loss at Clemson after injuring his right knee in the previous game against then-No. 1 Oklahoma.

Earlier this season, Reid and teammate Telvin Smith received one-game suspensions for an unspecified violation of team rules. He entered the 2011 campaign on the preseason Thorpe Award Watch List and has been one of the more valuable players for FSU since his arrival on campus because of his big-play ability on special teams and his continued improvement as a defensive back.

The Valdosta, Ga., native has registered four tackles and one assist in two games this year. He also has three kickoff returns for a 20.7-yard average and five punt returns for a 14.2-yard average.
